You Didn't Train for 8+ Years to Feel This Way
You make life-or-death decisions 10+ times per day.
You carry the emotional weight of animals AND their owners.
You work 50-60 hour weeks under crushing debt.
80% of veterinarians experience clinical depression at some point in their careers.
50% report feeling unhappy in their work.
And no one taught you how to handle the mental load.
Traditional wellness advice—yoga, self-care, work-life balance—isn't enough.
You need mental fitness training designed specifically for veterinarians.

![*Sick Visit NCNP* This is what works every time that allows me to meet them, hear them but also start building trust:
[after introducing myself and meeting their pet]
“So, I’ve read through all of [pet’s name]’s records but just so we’re on the same page, why don’t you catch me up on what’s going on.”
Reasons why this has worked for me:
1. It shows I’ve taken the time to look through their pet’s records but I’m not in a rush to simply insert what I think - I value their thoughts and concerns to take the time to give them the floor to speak.
2. You can start building so much trust by your body language while listening intentionally - eye contact, leaning in, nodding, etc.
3. A good history can provide you with ALOT of information for your next steps, diagnosis, prognosis.
4. While they are talking, you can get a sense of how they communicate. Are they an external processor who needs to say all on their mind? Are they someone who needs to be asked questions to allow them to build a good conversation? Are they someone who wants to be involved in every decision or simply told what to do?
5. They have been getting ready for this appointment and being heard + listened to provides a lot of foundation because often times them being heard and expressing their concerns is 90% of what they need is the owner.
If you have go-to phrases that set you up for a great first meeting, would love to hear them!
